Humdrumming

Children and adults experienced rhythm in a way like never before as they beat their hum drums, exploring rhythm and pitch. They were led sometimes by the facilitator, Mr Rzhude David, the inventor of the hum drum, and sometimes by the children who were drumming in complete ecstasy.

On Friday, 16th of February, Mrs. Laxmi Parameshwar, a psychologist and psychotherapist, joined the team of about 40 parents and facilitators at Mirra for a day that was open to questions.

Hridakasha

Hridakasha (infinite space of the heart),  a six month course certificate course offered by Snehadhara Foundation, Bengaluru, in association with Mirra focussed on “Enabling peer – peer interaction to create empathetic learning spaces using the Arts”.

Learnings from the San Diego Conference (April 8 – 11 2015)

Thanks to the management of HLC International School, Lakshmi Satish had the opportunity of attending the conference conducted by CEC (Center for Exceptional Children) along with a colleague. Mirra Charitable Trust conducted a 11-day workshop on “Promoting Holistic Development in Children” from May 12, 2014 to May 23, 2014.  The focus of the workshop was on holistic understanding of development, understanding individual child profile and formulating strategies to promote learning in every child.

Alternate Realities – A peek into the child’s world

Mirra Charitable Trust conducted a workshop for teachers and parents of Tatva Pre-School, Velachery on July 19th 2014.  Around 50 teachers and parents participated in the workshop.

The objective of the workshop was two-fold:

1. Getting an understanding of differential needs of children
2. Understanding how difficult and abstract it is for a child to learn concepts in Math and Language for the first time
