Mirra organized a picnic for its children, parents and staff on 23/9/2015 to The Farm, Sholinganallur. The group started off from Thiruvanmiyur with great excitement. On reaching the farm, the children were split into different sets and a staff of Mirra assigned to each set. This was done to provide an opportunity for the children to interact with each other, the staff providing insights on the visit and also kindling the thought process of children through various questions on what they were seeing.

The visit began with the poultry and cow shed where the children were made to feed the birds and animals with grains and grass. Some of them loved doing it and some preferred watching it from a distance. There were a few calves and chicken too – Some of the calves were very young and tender as they were just a few days old. This was followed by a visit to horse’s stable. The children, staff and parents were awed by the majestic horses and were allowed to touch the horses and feed them too.

No picnic is fun without some games –Several rounds of hide and seek were played. Every child was made to seek the other children and adults. Some of them were supported by the staff or parents in the seeking adventure. The children had so much fun. After a quick snack break, the entire gang proceeded to the vegetable garden and saw all types of plants ranging from herbs, shrubs, climbers, creepers to trees. The final visit was to a quiet lake and spent some time taking photographs and enjoying the beauty of the lake along with its calmness.

The best is always reserved for the last – Yes… It was the pizza making. Some children made their own pizza and were excited to share it with the entire group. The picnic ended with a lunch that included pizza and different varieties of South Indian food brought by the staff and parents of Mirra. The team was in no mood to go back home and wished the day never ended.
