All of us at Mirra – children, parents and facilitators – welcomed February with a celebration of the Sun, sea and sand.

February 1 – Ratha Sapthami / Surya Jayanthy . . .

Our yoga guru, Vedavalli Ramanujam writes of today “We waited for the birthday boy to wake up. We did Suryanamaskar as our way of wishing him and expressing our gratitude for the way he nurtures us all. Suryanamaskar – the perfectly balanced sequence as a way of finding our inner balance!

And thus began a morning of fun. With about 28 children and their parents, the beach buzzed with excitement from 6.30 to 8.30 AM.

My Dad and Me – Fathers became their childrens’ playmates as they explored close to 20 activities planned by the Mirra team.

And Moms? . . . Well they ‘discovered themselves’, thanks to Andrea Jacob who got them to move like they never did before, listen to the sounds of nature, roll on sand and laugh like crazy even as they held each other as a team with love and laughter. Thank you Andrea!

It was a day that saw plenty of camaraderie among the parents and the children. Random acts of kindness never go unnoticed and only create a ripple touching many more lives.

A beautiful day, a morning well spent and the sun shone brightly as if to say “I love you too”.
