We started the new academic year(2021-2022) with Just for fun June challenge for our Early intervention students’ group. What great fun the entire month had been. We had themes for each week and parents and students participated and shared pictures and videos of the fun they had.
First working week of June (7th-14th) had the theme ‘water water everywhere’. Even rain God joined with gusto and invited kids to step out and have a rain dance that week. Bubble bath, to water mark – for real this time, the child made hand and foot print with water, to the basket of balls floating in water to be picked up by their legs – the week saw wide variety of fun being posted in our group.
Week next had the theme of ‘Foam fun’ and out came the soaps and creams. Activities this time started with foam massage, then moved on to mixing colours and taking impressions in the paper, lovely swirls of colorful icecream look alikes scooped in cups and cones. Then it moved onto giving foam bath to their dolls and sea animals. We saw the kitchen colors being mixed with foam and being spread in the floor to be used as a canvas for drawing to a child getting ready for a shave with his grandfather.
Third in the row was the ‘Flour power’ – with all flours at home. Many of them found the rangoli design plates very interesting. When they pinched the flour and started drawing, we saw the fine motor skill becoming finer. Play dough moulds being filled with rice flour to flour being scooped and filled by hand into a bottle – it was an array of interesting activities.
Final week is ‘sand and mud magic’ . We are in the process of watching their fun through the pictures being shared.
Oh. What a fun June it was.
