Science is “the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation, experimentation, and the testing of theories against the evidence obtained” - says the dictionary.
This is what our students did in Science Project Day 2023, Mirra’s 10th Science day – a day where we could sit back, watch and enjoy our students across all ages talking science. Each student was assigned a mentor from Mirra and right from planning to final presentation, the student, parent and the mentor worked together as a team to bring out the best in the student.
Observing and discussing about things around us, explaining the process of growing a plant, making organic pesticide, exploring properties of liquids, light and sound - they did it all. And some went one step further and built prototypes to check whether the theory they learnt works in models. All of this with absolute confidence and flair.
Out came the flash cards, songs, models, observation recording tables, simple circuits, prototypes and follow-up activity templates.
They presented, explained the process, demonstrated, interacted, engaged with the audience and took cues and clues and improvised.
The very curious bunch of students and their dedicated parent coaches ably guided by Mirra left us humbled and brimming with confidence.
Science, demystified.
